Urban Outfitters is a lifestyle retailer known for eclectic, youthful trend-driven fashion and accessories. For their Spring/Summer cosmetic bag line, Urban Outfitters wanted to expand into bold, of-the-moment prints.

I researched current pattern trends and reviewed Urban Outfitters' existing retail offerings to identify their most popular patterns and design motifs, allowing me to create designs that built off of what already resonated with their audience, as well as gaps and opportunities. From there, I designed a collection of patterns incorporating photo prints, trompe l'oeil, and airbrush-style effects, creating a range that felt expressive and true to UO's eclectic aesthetic.

The collection included palm tree prints and hibiscus florals that tapped into the growing 2000s surf revival trend, alongside an airy, flourish-based pattern with airbrushed details, of the same era. Skinny, varying stripes played into the early 2000s aesthetic currently resurging with Gen Z and across Urban Outfitters' offerings, while a dot print that takes cues from the renewed popularity of archival Jean Paul Gaultier. Other patterns included a trompe l'oeil eyelet graphic, delicate florals in a colorway inspired by designer Ashley Williams (who is trending among the same audience), airbrush-style collaged stripes, and bold plaids.
